Dr. Mudit Kakar focuses his practice on intellectual property rights, particularly patents. His expertise is in patent litigation, but he routinely advises clients on patent prosecution, technology transactions and licensing. He assists clients in developing and maintaining their intellectual property portfolios. Dr. Kakar represents clients in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, life science, medical device, software and technology industries. Through the combination of science training and legal skills, he helps companies evaluate, implement, protect and monetize intellectual property.

Dr. Kakar holds a Ph.D. from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where he focused his research on the use of gene therapy for treatment of leukemia and other cancers. He possesses a keen ability to present complicated scientific and legal issues to clients in a way that is easily understandable. He uses his first-hand experience in developing new technologies to help clients achieve their business goals by leveraging their intellectual property.

Dr. Kakar’s experience in working in India, and working with corporate and individual clients from foreign countries is another great asset for his practice. He appreciates cultural differences and their implications in developing strong relationships with clients and other counterparts, to advance business goals.

Dr. Kakar is an advocate of giving back and values dedicating time to make a difference in professional and social issues through the power of law within local communities. He serves on the Board of Directors for One America, supporting causes centered on eliminating discrimination and oppression, and promoting and defending justice for people of every race, religion, language, immigration status and sexual orientation. Dr. Kakar also maintains an active pro bono practice helping victims of persecution seeking asylum in the United States.
